The MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon has a rich history dating back to October 1976, when it was first run as the Verwoerdburg Marathon over the traditional 26 miles. Over the years, it evolved into the iconic event South Africans now fondly call “The Wally.” On 1 May 2025, this beloved race celebrates its 48th edition.
Proudly hosted by Alpha Centurion Athletics Club, the MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon brings together runners of all abilities, from seasoned athletes to first-time participants.
